About This Project

Cracked and eroded concrete in a pork processing blast freezer had become a sanitation and durability liability. Temperature swings subjected the slab to extreme thermal shock, while the deteriorated surface and aging drain made the room harder to maintain. SQF and USDA citations made the repair urgent. The facility needed a hygienic, seamless solution without a lengthy shutdown.

Tufco removed the failed concrete, replaced the existing drain with a Tufco TD-40 Basket Drain, and installed 600 sq ft of Tufcrete Polymer Slab — installed by our own crews with all work completed in just 3 days.

The Solution

Tufco’s own W-2 crews — no subcontractors, no “certified installers” — removed the failed slab and prepared the full 600 sq ft blast freezer for a new Tufcrete Polymer Slab. The old drain was replaced with a Tufco TD-40 Basket Drain and integrated into the seamless floor.

The result is a seamless floor built to hold up to the extreme thermal shock of blast-freezer operation. The finished system eliminated the cracked, eroded surface, improved cleanability, and addressed the flooring conditions behind the SQF and USDA citations. All work was completed in 3 days, start to finish.
