Vinegar Production Facility — Western New York

Decades of acetic acid exposure had destroyed the facility floor at a vinegar production plant in New York. Brick was crumbling, grout lines were eroded, and patched sections of epoxy were cracking and flaking in production zones. The drain system had collapsed — cast iron corroded through, pipes failing, water and product pooling in active work areas. Sanitation was compromised, and SQF and FDA audit readiness was at risk. Shutting the plant down for a full rebuild was not an option.

Tufco replaced 10,000 sq ft of failing brick and collapsed drains with seamless urethane and stainless steel drains — installed by our own crews across four 4-day mobilizations, with the plant running the whole time.

The Solution

Tufco’s own W-2 crews — no subcontractors, no “certified installers” — installed 10,000 sq ft of Tufcrete Urethane Flooring reinforced with expanded-metal and sealed with a chemical-resistant epoxy topcoat. We removed 350 linear feet of corroded cast iron and set new Tufco stainless steel slot drains, restoring positive slope and drainage across the facility.

Integral coved base was installed at every tank and wall — no seams for bacteria to hide in. The entire scope was phased across four 4-day mobilizations so production never stopped, and sanitation and audit readiness (SQF, FDA, USDA) were fully restored.
